Did you know that Perth has an absolutely amazing Asian dining scene? Thanks to a large and diverse Asian community we have access to some of the best, most authentic Asian food anywhere in the world.
The only downside to this is that it can sometimes be a bit much to get your head around. The range of cuisines and restaurants on offer can be a bit baffling at times – which are the best ones to visit and which dishes should you try?
Whether you’re an Asian cuisine aficionado or an enthusiastic amateur looking to learn more, our Taste of Asia Adventure is the perfect way to discover the best of what’s on offer in the vibrant Asian dining district at the northern end of Northbridge.
It’s a fun and informative exploration of the area that will guide you through a range of lesser-known styles of Asian cuisine. You’ll visit unexpected venues and sample delicious dishes that you might not have tried on your own in a hundred years!
Think delectable dumplings, gnarly noodles, ravishing rice and lots, lots more…and don't worry, chopstick skills are not a requirement!
Like all our tours, Food Loosers buy their own food along the way. This is all part of sharing and interacting with your fellow food lovers. Food costs are about $30 to $35 per person on the Asian Affair roving dinner (and don't worry, for that you'll be able to stuff yourself so full of delicious Asian food that elasticated waists/maternity pants might be a good idea). Please bring small notes and coins to make settling our bills as we go a whole lot easier.
"We have lived in Perth for almost 20 years and this brief tour showed us 4 excellent venues with some of the tastiest, most reasonably priced food we have seen here. Natalie was an excellent, bouncy host with just the right amount of urgency to get our large group moving. The group made pleasant acquaintance with ease... Do this tour when you arrive in Perth for maximum benefit. Highly recommended."

"...the choices of restaurants as well as food was fantastic. Most of these foods I would have never tried by myself. The group size... was just right for all of us to get to know each other and have friendly banter. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about food, and Perth eating spots. I had a really terrific time as did my friend; it was certainly a unique experience. Everything was easy organised from booking tickets, to the meeting point to the ability of the restaurants to cater for our large group. I am looking forward to trying another different tour soon." - S Thorne (TripAdvisor Review)
Ticket purchase: Tickets must be pre purchased through the Eventbrite booking system. Tickets are $39 (not including food costs) and can be purchased here.
Included: A guided tour of some of Northbridge's best Asian restaurants including our tour guide’s wit, charm, good looks as well as their discussion of the food and culture of the area and access to chefs/restaurant owners to discuss food with.
Not Included: Food samples. Our model is for guests to pay as we go along. Your guide will inform you of food choices at each venue as well as order for the group, but our pay-as-you go method allows us the flexibility to change orders on the spot depending on dietary requirements and changing tour numbers. Total food cost for the tour is normally $25-$30 per person.
Time: Tours depart at 6:30pm sharp, so please be at the meeting point by 6:15pm for registration (we have a lot of awesome food to pack in so we need to leave on time).
Duration: Approximately 3 hours
Where: Corner of William and Newcastle St in Northbridge (in front of the Grab N Go convenience store).
Weather: Tours take place rain, hail or shine. We will reschedule due to extremely inclement weather (and/or the apocalypse).
Dress: Comfortable evening attire, basically whatever you think would be appropriate for a nice evening out for dinner with friends in town. Also, we're going to go ahead ad assume that you know how to choose weather-appropriate clothes and accessories for the time of year that you choose to join us. There's a little bit of walking between venues too (5 mins or so at a time max), so please take this into account when choosing appropriate footwear.
Drinks: This tour is predominantly BYO DRINKS, so please remember to bring some wine or beer along with you if you fancy a tipple.
Food: On this tour we will be stopping at 4 different restaurants. There will definitely be enough food for what most would consider and extremely hearty meal, so remember to pace yourself and pay attention to your guide's advice on how much to eat at each stop (as we'd hate you to go too hard too soon and miss out on some of the delights later on in the tour, and trust us, this is probably going to be more of an issue than you realise).
