Freo’s Best Kept Brunch Secret: The Local Hotel
August 17, 2016
In keeping with their motto of “simple offerings done right” the menu is a fairly pared back affair of just eight items, but it nonetheless manages to hit all of the right decadently satisfying notes to keep those looking for a little bit of weekend indulgence happy. Those looking for a healthy, wholesome outing should probably go elsewhere – it is a pub after all! A place that offers up a Breakfast Parma with steak, bacon, fried eggs, peccorino cheese and pepperonata is probably not for you. The well balanced, smoke-tinged meatiness of the the Pork, Egg & Bacon wrap with pulled pork, bacon, scrambled egg, bacon, tomato chutney and chimichuri and the crisp Pumpkin, Corn & Quinoa fritters served with a delightful saffron yogurt and poached egg are also both definitely worth a look in too.
Perhaps the best thing about brunch at the Local Hotel is the fact that hardly anyone knows about it (yet). While all of the other, better known cafes on South Terrace are heaving with the usual weekend rush you can saunter down there whenever you feel like it, mix yourself a bespoke Bloody Mary, grab a tasty brew from the Coffee Combi and enjoy your delicious brunch in the peace and quiet of this undiscovered gem. Well at least you can for now…
