Description

Hiding at the northern end of William St, the Asian dining scene in the area is like an underground Chinatown – unofficial but absolutely the real deal and delicious!

We’ll guide you though its best bits and introduce you to some brilliant styles of Asian cooking that you might not have come across before. Szechuan, Malaysian, Hunan, mainland style dumplings and lots, lots more!

You’ll learn a lot and fill up on all manner of mouthwatering noodles, rice, dumplings, wok dishes and curries. It really has to be seen (and tasted) to be believed!

This tour is predominately BYO DRINKS, so remember to bring some wine or beer along with you if you fancy a tipple.

Like all Food Loose Tours, our Adventurers buy their own food along the way. This is all part of sharing and interacting with your fellow food lovers. We estimate it will be no more than $30 in food costs per person. Please bring small notes to make settling our bills as we go a whole lot easier.

A guided tour of some of Northbridge’s best Asian restaurants including our tour guide’s wit, charm, good looks as well as their discussion of the food and culture of the area and access to chefs/restaurant owners to discuss food with.

Not Included

Food samples. Our model is for guests to pay as we go along. Your guide will inform you of food choices at each venue as well as order for the group, but our pay-as-you go method allows us the flexibility to change orders on the spot depending on dietary requirements and changing tour numbers. Total food cost for the tour is normally $25-$30 per person.​

Time

Tours depart at 6:30pm sharp, so please be at the meeting point by 6:15pm for registration (we have a lot of awesome food to pack in so we need to leave on time).

FAQ
  • How does paying for food along the way work?
  • A key ingredient to having a great time on our tours is the sharing of food. You will join with other Food Loose Tour Foodies and share the delights of varying portion sizes along the way. We recommend bringing small notes and coins, approximately $20 to $25.

  • What are the tour times and location?
  • The Taste of Asia Adventure tour is 3 hours commencing SHARP at 6:30pm We ask that you arrive at 6.15pm for registration. The tour ends at approximately 9:30pm.

  • What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
  • The tour starts on the corner of William and Brisbane on the West side of the street. It is a 15 minute walk maximum from the Perth train stations, or you can catch a Cat. There is street parking close to the starting point.

  • Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? May I purchase with cash?
  • Tickets must be purchased in advance online using Visa or Mastercards. Please make sure you purchase tickets well in advance of your desired tour date, as our tours sell out quickly. We have a no refund policy.

  • Is there a waiting list if the tour I'm interested in is sold out?
  • We currently do not have a waiting list system. Please email us at [email protected] to find out if an additional tour has been added that suits your schedule.

  • What if there is bad weather?
  • Tours are conducted rain or shine. A good portion of our time is spent walking outdoors. However, we will take breaks out of the weather along the way, for both the heat and rain.

  • What type of clothing and shoes should I wear?
  • We do a fair amount of walking on our tours. You should dress casually and wear comfortable shoes or sneakers. Please wear a rain jacket and bring an umbrella in winter. In summer ensure you have a hat, sunscreen and a bottle of water.

  • How much food do we eat on the food tasting tours?
  • On this tour we will be stopping at 4 different restaurants. There will definitely be enough food for what most would consider and extremely hearty meal, so remember to pace yourself and pay attention to your guide’s advice on how much to eat at each stop (as we’d hate you to go too hard too soon and miss out on some of the delights later on in the tour, and trust us, this is probably going to be more of an issue than you realise).

  • What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
  • Please be sure and let us know if you (or anyone in your group) has a dietary restriction (e.g. vegetarian, gluten free, allergy, etc.). Please email us at [email protected] when you purchase your tickets. As long as we know in advance, we can accommodate your needs.

  • Do you offer vegetarian options?
  • Yes. We have vegetarian options on our tours. Be sure to let us know, well in advance, and we will ensure to suggest appropriate substitutions.

  • What if I am late?
  • It is a good idea to arrive at the meeting location a minimum of 15 minutes prior to the tour start time. In fairness to the people, who arrived on time, we will leave sharply at the tour start time. If you are late, you may call us at on 0467 542 437 to try and find the group, once we have left the starting point. There are no guarantees you will be able to find the group, as our guides are narrating the tour and will not necessarily pick up their mobile phones. There are no reschedules or refunds for late comers, who cannot find the group.

  • Can I reschedule my food tour?
  • We have a 48 hour rescheduling policy. You must notify us by email to [email protected] at least 48 hours before your tour to reschedule. Otherwise, unfortunately you will forfeit your ticket.

  • How much walking is there on the tour?
  • We’re on our feet for approximately 4 hours. We walk at a casual pace and stand in place for a few minutes at various attractions. The streets have a slight incline and you will have to walk down some stairs along the way. Please let us know in advance, if you have difficulty walking up/down stairs, and we will try to make arrangements for you.

  • Are the tours appropriate for children?
  • Our friendly tour guides make learning about the history, culture, and foods of the areas we visit interesting, informative, and fun. Please gauge whether or not you think this tour is appropriate for your child. Children under the age of 5 are free. You may bring a stroller on the tour, but it will have to remain outside, if the food establishment is busy.

  • Are pets allowed on the tours?
  • Pets are not allowed on any of our food tasting tours.

  • Is your tour touristy? Do local West Australians take the tour?
  • Our tours are specifically designed to take you to the “hidden gems” only a die hard Foodie knows about. Local West Australians take our tours and the usual response is “I never knew these hidden gems existed”. None of our tours have a touristy feel to them. Our goal is for you to interact, have fun and experience the culinary secrets of Perth City.

  • Are tour guides tips included in the price?
  • Tour guides tips are not included in the cost of your tour. Tips are not essential, however like most service, when its exceptional you are usually happy to provide a gratuity.

  • Are gift certificates available?
  • Yes Gift Certificates are available from www.foodloosetours.com.au. You can buy gift certificates for someone local, a visitor, or as a corporate gift.

  • Can I book a private or corporate tour?
  • Private and Corporate tours are available for our International Food Adventure Tour. This tour is a perfect team building event for a team of up to 30 people, birthday celebration, or friends gathering. To einquire about a private or corporate tour, please fill out the form on our private and corporate tours page on our site (www.foodloosetours.com.au). Our operations manager will contact you within 24 hours to inform you if the date and time is available. You may call us directly at 0413 278 387 to enquire about a private or corporate tour.

  • Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
  • Please bring a copy of your ticket either in hard copy or the email on your phone.

  • The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
  • That’s fine. We encourage you to use your place on the tour. If you are unable to attend we welcome your friends or family on the tour.
